The course covers the scope of inspection activities: the role and responsibilities of a Welding Inspector, welding terms and definitions, mechanical testing on welded joints, types and causes of weld imperfections, welding procedures, approvals and welder approvals.
It also covers NDT Techniques: testing methods, visual inspection, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, pressure test, dimensional tests, quality assurance, and practical work. The course does not cover welding technology training (WT1) that should be completed within the AS 2214 Welding Supervisor Course before attending the welding inspection course.
Welding Inspection 1 (one week of 40 hours) covering the requirements of International Welding Inspector - Basic (IWI-B).
