To apply for membership of HERA, please read the following descriptions. When you have understood which membership you'd like to apply for, please print out and complete this application form, then post or fax it to us at 09 262 2856.

NZ HERA is a non-profit research organisation dedicated to serving the needs of metal-based industries in New Zealand. It is the national centre for information about design, steel structures, welding, metal fabrication and industry capability.

HERA members have direct access to HERA's Information Centre which houses a technical library containing texts, references, standards, serials and photographs related to metals engineering. The Centre also offers for sale publications, standards and training material from throughout the world. What cannot be immeditely found in HERA's library can be sourced through the HERA Publications Officer or HERA Librarian.

Membership Application

Categories of Membership:

Ordinary Membership
Open to New Zealand organisations engaged in design; manufacture; fabrication; construction; maintenance; supply of welding consumables; supply of metals, in relation to the metals engineering industry.

Ordinary Members pay an annual subscription based on the number of people they employ in activities related to the metals engineering industry, as follows:

Ordinary Members receive all the benefits listed overleaf and are eligible for the following additional benefits:

- A substantial extra discount off standard members' rates for courses, seminars, publications and consultation work

- The right to nominate and vote for members of the HERA Executive Board, and to vote at general meetings of the Association

- The inclusion of a written profile in HERA's Directories.

- A free subscription to the Australasian Welding Journal

Associate Membership
Open to New Zealand organisations which are engaged in heavy engineering as a core business and which use raw materials subject to the Heavy Engineering Research Levy. (Note. Any organisation which is eligible for Associate membership is entitled to apply for Ordinary membership as described above).

Levied materials are:

Carbon steel plate greater than 4.75mm thick

Carbon steel sections 80mm or more in depth

Carbon steel RHS 102 mm or more in depth

Welding consumables (excluding gases).

Associate Members receive all the benefits listed, except voting rights for HERA's Executive Elections. Associate members do not pay any subscription.

Affiliate Membership
The Executive may at its discretion admit to Affiliate membership any person or organisation which is associated with the metals engineering industry but not eligible for Ordinary or Associate membership.

Affiliate members pay an annual subscription of NZ$ 685.00 (including GST).

Affiliate members receive the benefits listed, including discounts for courses, seminars, publications and consultation work. They also qualify for the inclusion of a written profile in HERA's Directories, and a free subscription to the Australasian Welding Journal.

Applications for membership are accepted throughout the year, and are considered by the HERA Executive Board which meets every two to three months.

Applications for Ordinary or Affiliate membership should be accompanied by a cheque, or by Visa or Mastercard authorisation, for one year's subscription at the appropriate rate.
