Modular Training Scheme for the Joining of Materials - an Overview The
NZ Modular Training Scheme for the Joining of Materials is a training resource
for the welding of metals. At present there are 16 modules available, each available
in the form of "Teaching Worksheets" (for an instructor) and as a "Student
Workbook" (for the learner). The
Teaching Worksheets contain a set of OHP transparency masters covering safety,
process theory and basic quality assurance, along with guidance on training and
assessment exercises. The Student Workbook provides theory notes to each OHP transparency
in the Teaching Notes, detailed practical welding exercises and multi-choice questions
for self assessment. The training modules
are suitable for use by training providers (eg Polytechnics) and by companies
for in-house training, and are intended for live teaching situations where the
theory aspects can be explained and welding techniques demonstrated. Once this
has been done the learner has a permanent reference for revising the theory and
practising the actual welding as required. The
modules cover modern technology and emphasise safety, economical work practice
and quality assurance as applied to welding fabrication. Typical industry welding
and fabrication codes and standards are introduced to ensure the relevance of
the training. Each module provides the
necessary training for a Unit Standard on the NZ Qualifications Framework for
the new engineering qualifications, and are ideal preparation for a range of welder
performance qualification tests such as NZS 4711, BS EN 287 or its ISO equivalent
ISO 9906. Welding
Training Modules All available from the
HERA Information Centre or available via our online form.
