Last Friday was a very sad day for HERA. Farewelling one of our longest term employees – Kam Subramani.

At the age of 73, Kam decided it was time for retirement.

We have profiled him previously. He has been the beloved Accountant, not just for HERA but for many other organisations over the years, including MRM, NASH, Metals NZ, Sustainable Steel Council, NZSSDA, HERA Certifications and so on.

He was highly regarded for his dutiful prompt response to accounts enquiries, humility, loyalty and integrity. He was also a very interesting and warm team member with a lot of life experience and a willingness to assist anyone with any problem that they had in life or work.

Kam did not want a big farewell, characteristically preferring no fuss but we did convince him to at least have a humble farewell afternoon tea.

Saying goodbye to our amazing Accountant - Kam Subramani.

HERA CEO, Troy Coyle, thanked Kam for his years of service and said that she “simply cannot imagine the HERA offices without seeing his face every day” and had to cut her speech short as she was overcome with emotion. Wolfgang Scholz delivered apologies and thanks from previous HERA Directors, John Meikle and Llewelyn Richards, all of whom acknowledged Kam’s significant dedication and commitment to HERA over the years.

Kam does not have any specific retirement plans, other than spending time with his family and getting to the list of duties his wife has identified for him! He will remain part of the HERA whanau and still be a regular visitor to HERA as the whanaungatanga bonds are strong.
