About this course
The course provides training in the theory and practice of welding inspection as required by the International Institute of Welding International Welding Inspector – Standard (IWI-S) qualification, and the CBIP Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
The course content complies with requirements of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) for training in welding inspection theory and practical, and to CBIP Document No PRO-CER-07.
The course does not cover welding technology training (IIW welding technology module); this is covered in Welding Inspection Part 1 that is to be completed before this course.
Course content covers the scope of inspection activities including the role and responsibilities of a Welding Inspector, welding terms and definitions, mechanical testing on welded joints, types and causes of weld imperfections, welding procedures, approvals and welder approvals. It also addresses NDT Techniques – in particular testing methods, visual inspection, liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, pressure test, dimensional tests, quality assurance, and practical inspection work.

- 14:15pm – Afternoon tea
IWI (S) examinations
Will be held at HERA House on Thursday 12th & Friday 13th December 2019
IIW exams for IWI-S will held on the Thursday (21st November) following the course.
Application for IWI-S Examinations must be made to the HERA ANB using form SF001 or at (link).
Note that exam application is in addition to registration for the course and that course fees do not cover exam fees.
**Applications for the CBIP CWI examinations must be made directly to CBIP.
