“Based on Lean Startup” methods, the purpose of the Innovation Ready module is to equip prospective Innovation Managers with the innovation theory required to prepare for themselves and their businesses for implementing an innovation process. It will also establish the required training for the Innovation Set and Go Modules, which will focus on putting the learnings into practice and progressing an actual product through the commercialism process. Participants will need to become entrepreneurs for their businesses
The training will be done as a 6 full-day session that will require theory development, interactive sessions to apply the theory and networking.
Day 1 – 13th June: Creating the innovation mindset
Day 2 – 11th July: The innovation process
Day 3 – 8th August: Ideation
Day 4 – 5th September: Innovation Metrics
Day 5 – 31st October: Preparing an innovation strategy
Day 6 – 28th November: Building a culture of innovation and productivity
Innovation READY Day 1: Creating the innovation mindset
You’ll come away with a deeper understanding of what a Lean Startup innovation culture requires. Identifying challenges you’ll have to overcome to implement this, along with a plan to do so. You’ll also gain the leadership capabilities needed to lead change and create alignment and buy-in within your organisation, and the communication skills to create and foster this change. Once done, you’ll develop the courage and ability to have tough and honest conversations. Get READY to become the ‘game changer’ for your company’s commercial success.

Innovation READY: Day 2 – The innovation process
The learning focus is on the creation of a lean evaluation process where you’ll learn all about opening and closing gates, number of gates or innovation stages and levels, portfolio versus product and more. By the end of the day, you’ll be confident in understanding what should happen in each stage gate and what the stop/go/pivot points are. You’ll also be given an identification process to understand who “gate-keepers” are, and key evaluation criteria.
Most importantly, you’ll learn how to tailor all of this innovation process learning to better suit your business, and be armed with the tools required for project or portfolio evaluations. Moving forward, you’ll be able to identify priority projects using these evaluations, and quickly discern what a healthy portfolio looks like in terms of number of projects, size, risk, and level of innovation. Not only that, but you’ll be able ti implement bench-marking and best practice into your company’s commercial success.
The learning focus is on understanding customer value propositions and the minimal viable product. You’ll learn how to build iterative learning cycles within their processes and the importance of knowledge. You’ll also learn the tools for growing a culture of innovation within your organisation.
Of importance will be for you to understand customer discovery – What is it and why do we do it?
The learning focus is on financial assessment methods, commercial potential (determine market size and share), technical and strategic assessment and finally determine whether to pivot or perish with the idea.

Innovation Ready Day 5: Preparing an innovation strategy
In this session, we will help you identify innovation themes for your business and create a three-year innovation plan. It will show you how to plan for innovation within your business by creating alignment within your business and the importance of not over planning (using lean startup principles to test and learn instead).
This will culminate all your learnings through the course and be a key outcome to take back to your team and workplace.
The learning focus will be on how to build a highly engaged workforce and understand the value of a coaching culture. Culture is hard to change for which we need to focus on behaviour and mindset first. In this session, we will go through the three types of conversation that are required to enable positive mindset change. We will learn when and how to have these conversations as the starting point which will help build great cultures day by day one conversation at a time.
