It’ll also establish the required training for the Innovation SET and GO programs, which are focused on putting learnings from Innovation READY into practice by progressing an actual product through the commercialism process. Participants will become entrepreneurs for their businesses.

By the end of the day, you’ll be confident in understanding what should happen in each stage gate and what the stop/go/pivot points are. Innovation Ready Day 5: Preparing an innovation strategy
In this session, we will help you identify innovation themes for your business and create a three-year innovation plan. It will show you how to plan for innovation within your business by creating alignment within your business and the importance of not over planning (using lean startup principles to test and learn instead).
This will culminate all your learnings through the course and be a key outcome to take back to your team and workplace.
Thursday 28th November
Innovation Ready Day 6: Building a culture of innovation and productivity
The learning focus will be on how to build a highly engaged workforce and understand the value of a coaching culture. Culture is hard to change for which we need to focus on behaviour and mindset first. In this session, we will go through the three types of conversation that are required to enable positive mindset change. We will learn when and how to have these conversations as the starting point which will help build great cultures day by day one conversation at a time.

Cam Gordon, Dam Safety & Civil Engineering Manager, Genesis Energy
‘At a large heavy industry company like Genesis, innovation can be a slow process. We are already innovating by introducing agile methodologies and increasing the use of data and digital technology. But embedding innovation led techniques is always challenging. Innovation Ready certainly made me think more deeply about how we could change things for the better. I found attending this course to be very useful.’
Peter Swan, Business Development Manager, Page & Macrae Engineering
‘We at Page and Macrae have shown innovation initiative over many years and projects however it was just what we brought to the table every day. To gain consistency and structured innovation processes is an essential step to avoid possible disruption and maximise our chances of continued success in the markets of the future. Also the challenge of constantly balancing BAU with innovation projects is not easy to handle. This course has encouraged me in many ways to keep doing what I’m doing as well as informed me with tools and insights on how to make innovation a more integral aspect of our work culture. Already now part of Innovation Set & Go, I’m excited about learning how to apply these tools in my work place as well.’
Cliff Ellery, GM – Innovation Centre of Excellence, NDA
‘I found Innovation Ready to be just the kind of training programme we need right now. This is what our industry needs to prepare ourselves for a disruptive environment demanding skills in innovation. I’m in the next phase of Innovation Set & Go this year and am looking forward to how to apply tools and skills towards commercialisation. I’d recommend other engineering firms also consider this as a must attend course if they are serious about their future’
Pam Roa, Managing Director, Longveld
‘At Longveld we take it for granted that we can expect disruption of every aspect of our business in the near future and we need to prepare ourselves. Attending a course such as Innovation Ready was very useful for us in providing a forum for discussion and testing of ideas with our wider industry colleagues. We found the mix of theory and practical examples to be very effective in clarifying how to build MVPs and how to understand innovation better. Taking the time out regularly to look beyond business as usual is really important.’
Graeme Warren, MB Century
MB Century has an innovative culture and supports innovation initiatives of all kinds. We support Innovation Ready which is a great initiative for our industry. Introducing new thinking in traditional industries is never easy and this course attempts to do that. I found that the course used interactive workshops and practice sessions to demonstrate the theoretical concepts and tools introduced around innovation.
