Abstract What is a likely economic impact of the construction industry adopting 4.0 technologies that allow, amongst other things, for more efficient, and more effective communication and task planning? We set out to answer this question using BERL’s model of the Aotearoa New Zealand economy. We begin by building a mathematical picture of the New Zealand economy under a set of assumptions, which closely match the reality of 2021. We then append to this base case model a set of different assumptions matching three scenarios. These scenarios allow us to build up a defensible range for the impact of the construction industry adopting 4.0 technologies that allow for more efficient, and more effective communication and task planning.
