The NZMEA are compiling a list of occupations for consideration to the first round of the 2016 Review of Essential Skills in Demand lists (ESID).

They are seeking input from companies who are experiencing labour shortages that could be classed as either an Immediate Skill Shortage or a Long Term Skill Shortage.

If you are experiencing specific areas of skill shortages that you would like to see included, please contact us. We will then follow up with you to go through your request in more detail and to gather supporting evidence. Please go to the ‘Criteria for adding an occupation to the ESID list’ link for the depth of detail required to support any changes to the lists.

If you wish to register an occupation on the Skills Shortage Lists for the NZMEA to submit on your occupation behalf, please let NZMEA know no later than Monday 2 May by emailing trudydiggs@nzmea.org.nz

We appreciated the support of industry during the 2015 review and are very pleased to advise that the following occupations have been listed on the ESID.

  • Metal Fabricators/Welders (322311) (new to the list)
  • Sheetmetal Trades Workers (322211) (new to the list)
