Former General Manager Industry Development (2017 – 2019)
Bringing over 11 years’ experience working across multiple process industries research engineering and project management roles – I was responsible for the general management, development and promotion of our small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in our membership. Facilitating this by intervening with latest technologies, government support pathways and educational initiatives to assist in growth.
Projects I worked on included the Above Ground Geothermal and Allied Technologies (AGGAT) research program, and applying process technology transfer research and business commercialisation skills to tackle the challenge of business growth through research, tools and resources.
My background spanned multiple industries such as dairy, pulp and paper and renewable energy which gave me a strong appreciation of the commercial challenges businesses face and how best to approach them within HERA’s membership. I was also proud to bring my attributes as a chartered engineer with IChemE to areas of project engineering and technology innovation.
As a champion for heavy engineering I was focused on encouraging HERA’s members to take intelligent risk towards delivery and innovation and create their own track record in developing smarter solutions both nationally and abroad.
It was great to be a part of HERA where despite its lean make up, had a strong influence in government, academia and industry. With a mandate to help grow New Zealand’s economy – I thoroughly enjoyed navigating this challenge and found pride in contributing to this vision.
