Former Research Engineer, Industry Development (2015 – 2017)
I’m a Senior Chemical Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the research industry, having delivered several complex international heat transfer projects throughout my career.
Areas of focus for me while at HERA included heat exchanger optimisation design and innovation, parametric modelling and computational fluid dynamics using advanced modelling package ANSYS-CFX.
As I delved into research and development, I found we were able to discover more opportunities to push boundaries and lead smarter thinking – it was an exciting journey to be a part of.
Projects I worked on include the thermal analysis and performance prediction of reference designs for a proposed evaporator and condenser – optimising operating conditions, developing algorithms, detecting limitations and proposing innovative concepts to mitigate risk, improving performance and ensuring results aligned with advanced modelling.
I also worked extensively in heat exchanger technology development – analysing performance and creating full geometry drawings for the fabrication of an evaporator scaled down in size by over 50% to significantly increase thermal performance capability.
It was really exciting to work at HERA where the tremendous time and effort we put into our clean energy R&D projects created opportunities for the metals industry globally.
