In addition to his engineering work, Amir has taught courses on steel structures and structural software applications for over four years at reputable academic institutions. This parallel experience has taught him how to implement his engineering knowledge into pedagogy and produce practical knowledge.

Amir has been assigned a pivotal role in HERA’s Structural division, where the focus is developing standards, guidelines, and solving challenging problems for structural engineers within the New Zealand metal industry. Furthermore, Amir is also a committee member for the revision of the NZS3404 New Zealand Steel Structures standard, recognising the significance of ethical collaboration in this line of work.

At HERA, Amir focuses on promoting sustainability in construction and researching sustainable structural solutions, recognising it as the urgent call of our time. He also believes working here gives him the opportunity to combine theoretical research with practical engineering experience as well as work on cutting-edge research and development. Consequently, collaborating with experts from various fields and disciplines at HERA will allow Amir to craft an inclusive and hybrid language for bridging the gaps between research and practice.
