Amir ShahMohammadi

Senior Structural Sustainability Engineer

I bring over 15 years of experience in consulting and research. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of structures, including single-story industrial buildings, multi-story, and tall buildings, using materials such as steel, concrete, and composites.

I am grateful for the opportunities to contribute to complex design projects and acknowledge the support of my colleagues. In addition to my engineering work, I have had the opportunity to teach courses on steel structures and structural software applications for over four years at reputable academic institutions, which has allowed me to implement my engineering experience into pedagogy and produce practical knowledge.

I am privileged to be part of HERA’s Structural division, where the main focus is developing standards, guidelines, and solving challenging problems for structural engineers within the New Zealand metal industry. As a committee member for the revision of the NZS3404 New Zealand Steel Structures standard, I recognise the significance of ethical collaboration in this line of work.

In addition to innovation in structural systems, my primary focus is on promoting sustainability in construction, recognising it as the urgent call of our time.

Working at HERA gives me the opportunity to combine theoretical research with practical engineering experience, work on cutting-edge research and development, and collaborate with experts from various fields and disciplines to craft an inclusive and hybrid language for bridging the gaps between research and practice.
