HERA member Beca has won International Project of the Year at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2015 in London recently for itswork on the $237 million integrated terminal project for the Christchurch International Airport.

This is the latest of awards the project has garnered, the other being the Building and Construction category at the 2014 IPENZ Engineering Excellence Awards, and Gold Award of Excellence at the 2014 Association of Consulting Engineers INNOVATE NZ Awards.

The CIBSE award recognizes the innovative artesian heating/cooling system designed and delivered by Beca which utilizes artesian water that flows beneath the city. Easily accessible through wells, the artesian water provides the airport with a cost-effective, long-term heating and cooling solution and a super-efficient, sustainable energy source.
